The village of Avdimou and the beach hamlet are situated on opposite sides of the Lemesos - Pafos highway. The village itself is in two parts; the older part with its assortment of buildings - including a minaret- and the newer part, with buildings lining part of the road to Prastio and Pachna. It is quiet, pleasant and friendly. Coffee shops, supermarkets, patisserie.

Restaurants and Tavernas

In the village: Famagusta Taverna (Tel.  25-221545) Open every day except Mondays, 18.00 - 21.30 for food, and until midnight for drinks. Bright and cheerful with a roaring log fire in the winter. Good grills and Cyprus meze.

Kyrenia Beach (Tel. 25-991070, 99-679451) Close to the long beach, ideal for swimming and sunning. The 'KB' as it is popularly known, is open every day 09.00-15-30 and 17-30 - 21.30. March-November. Local and international dishes served.

Melanda Beach (Tel.99-422233, 99-565336) Pebbly beach, with cliff side and cove walks with small secluded bays. Open daily (except Monday evening). March-April & November only for lunch 09-00-17-00, May - October 09-00-22.00. Fresh local fish and other local specialities. Sunday roast Cyprus-style, cooked in the traditional oven. To reach Anogyra, drive through Avdimou village, turn left at the sign off the main road, then turn right at the butcher shop and follow the signs to Anogyra.
